Eternal Conflict Mod is a free mod by Pancake Team 7 for the real-time strategy video game Rusted Warfare. This utility is a total conversion of the base game. It follows a sci-fi or futuristic theme, adding dozens of new units and gameplay changes that make the game feel entirely different.

Rusted Warfare features retro graphics but it compensates for it through fun gameplay. Eternal Conflict Mod doesn’t try to enhance its visuals but it introduces a slew of changes that alters every aspect of the base game. It’s a huge mod that breathes new life into the game.

A world of changes

As a total conversion, Eternal Conflict Mod introduces countless changes, and the best way to understand the intensity of the said changes is by experiencing them firsthand. Having said that, the biggest change you will immediately notice is the appearance of units and structures. Almost everything has been given a new sprite. The mod also adds new sound effects to complement the new models.

The mod adds new units and structures at different tiers, including experimental ones. It also features balance changes that cover almost everything, from build times and unit costs to adding or removing abilities. Moreover, it gives the announcer new voice lines corresponding with the new units and other gameplay elements. Experimental units have voice lines, too, so they don’t break gameplay immersion. 

The graphics look the same and the core gameplay feels similar, but you will have to re-learn the game if you use this mod. Moreover, you shouldn’t expect a smooth, well-polished experience since this mod isn’t an enhancement or unofficial patch. Expect issues from the base game to persist and experience new bugs, given the volume and intensity of the changes this mod applies.

Is it worth playing? 

The only way to know whether you will enjoy this total conversion is by trying it. Eternal Conflict Mod alters so many things about the base game that even those who enjoyed the base game aren’t guaranteed to have a good time. However, the developer is actively working on the mod, so it’s likely to get better as time goes by.
